Panasonic has launched two new tablets – the Toughpad FZ-E1 and the Toughpad FZ-X1. However these are not your regular tablets, they are heavy, rugged and are totally waterproof just like the Motorola Defy waterproof tablets. The Toughpad tablets are waterproof upto 5 feet deep inside water and can work without any problems in temperatures ranging from -4 F (~ -18 C) to 140 F (~ 54 C). The tablet can withstand drops from 10 feet height and can sustain dust too!
As such both the tablets are priced $1799 onwards owing to the durability they provide. Let us now take a look at the specs and features of the Toughpad FZ-X1 & Toughpad FZ-E1 tablets:
- The Toughpad FZ-E1 has a 2.3 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and runs Windows Embedded 8.1 Handheld Operating system
- The TouchPad FZ-X1 has a 1.7 GHz Snapdragon 600 processor and it runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
- 5 inch anti-reflective LCD screen with a display resolution of 1280 by 720 pixel
- Both have 2GB of RAM each
- 32GB of storage, micro SDXC card slots for extending storage options
- Network Connectivity: WiFI, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC optional 3G / 4G (Optional)
- It also has a built in barcode readers & magnetic stripe card readers
- Camera – 8MP rear camera and 1.3MP front camera for video calling
- Powered by a 6200mAh battery that gives 14 hours of battery life to the tablets and these batteries are hot swappable which means you can change them without turning off the tablets
