With many Android phones sporting 4-inch+ displays, many iPhone users too have been waiting for Apple to release an iPhone with a larger screen. That did not happen with iPhone 4S but if recent rumors are true, we may see the next iPhone with a larger 4-inch display.
According to reports fromĀ Macotakara, Hitachi Displays Ltd and Sony Mobile Display Corporation have started shipping the screens for the iPad 3 and a 4-inch LCD screen for an unnamed iOS device. It would be fairly safe to assume that the 4-inch display will be for the next iPhone – the iPhone 5.
Earlier rumors suggest the involvement of Sharp, LG and Samsung with the production of the screen of the next iOS devices. Macotakara’s report did not mention if Hitachi Displays Ltd and Sony Mobile Display Corporation have started full scale production of the said screen. So, it is quite possible that Apple is testing the screens from these different manufacturers before making a final decision.
For comparison, the iPhone 4S has a 3.5-inch screen while the Samsung Galaxy Nexus has a 4.65-inch screen.
