In CES 2011, Microsoft demoed the next version of Microsoft Surface, which is awkwardly named as Samsung SUR40 for Microsoft Surface. It is a huge improvement over the original Surface. Microsoft said that they will start shipping it in late 2011 in 23 countries.
However, at the presentation, they remained tight-lipped about the price – except that it would cost less than the original Surface.
Now, they have revealed the price at an interview with ZDNet. The new Surface will cost $7,600. This is a huge price difference with the original Surface which shipped for $12,000. The price might seem too high, but the user Microsoft have in mind are the retail, hospitality and education industry.
