According to a report published by a research firm, Apple shipped more iPhone units than RIM did for BlackBerry during 2010′s third quarter. However Nokia still remained at #1 shipping most number of smartphone units worldwide. Nokia mainly benefits from it’s vast presence in Asia and Europe.
The latest addition to the league of smartphones is the upcoming Nokia N8. The company made it official, after months of speculation. The phone will be available in Q3. If the rumors are to be believed, its coming on 24 August.
Last week, we told you about Intel & Nokia joining hands to merge Moblin & Maemo to produce MeeGo. And now there is news that LG has announced, it’s smartphone LG GW990 will be based on MeeGo OS. This is one big step from LG and a must-say achievement for the MeeGo OS.

The news about Dell’s Mini 3i Smartphone being a China-only device might not be true after all. According to Cruchgear, Dell might be bringing their Android-based phone to the U.S., which would be great news for the Android community considering the recent announcements by Motorola and HTC about the launch of their Android powered smartphones.
