Dell finally unveiled it’s much rumored Mini 3i Smartphone in China during an event organized by China Mobile. The Mini 3i features a 3.5-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 360×640 pixels, a 3 Megapixel camera with LED Flash, GPS, Bluetooth, a 950mAh battery, microSD card slot and a mini USB port. It runs on the Open Mobile System developed by China Mobile which is based on Google Android.
The phone supports 2G GSM network, and not 3G and WiFi too is missing from the unclear specifications. There’s no physical keypad or Stylus. There’s no mention of the maximum storage size for the microSD card or the internal memory the device would offer.
Dell has confirmed that they are working on a Smartphone for China Mobile and what was unveiled during the event was a “proof of concept mobile device prototype”.
It is not very clear whether Dell would launch the Mini 3i in other markets, or spice-up the specifications for launching in other markets. For the Mini 3i to do well in other markets, Dell would definitely need to add 3G support. We’ll just have to wait for that.
Here are some pictures of the phone:
